Regular maintenance is required to keep upholstered furniture in good condition. We recommend that the seat and back cushions of upholstered furniture be cared for after each sitting to help them retain their shape. Feather, fibre and foam cushions will flatten with use. Remove the cushions and pat them firmly into shape. Shaking the fill will redistribute the feathers and fibre evenly throughout the cushion compartments. Plump them with your hands and set them back in place. Brush your hands over them to smooth the fabric. Vacuum surfaces regularly with an upholstery brush attachment. Rearrange or flip the seats & backs often so that they wear evenly.
Generally upholstery should be spot cleaned, according to the cleaning codes below. We do not recommend machine washing casings. Please check with a professional or our customer service for any questions regarding maintaining and cleaning your upholstery.
S :
The piece must be cleaned with cleaning solvents (dry clean only) and will not react well if water is applied to it. Spot cleaning is only advised if the product is meant for home dry cleaning use. Stains, spills or dirt in general should be cleaned as soon as possible to retain the longevity of the colors and the fabric.
W :
The piece can be cleaned with water. This would mean you will be safe if you use an upholstery or carpet cleaner on your spill or stain. This is the most durable type of fabric you can buy and is ideal for furniture that will see a high volume of use or spills.
S/W :
This code means either dry cleaning solvents, upholstery shampoo or foam from a water based detergent can be used. Spot clean as soon as possible so that stains don't set-in. Do not saturate with liquid. Pile fabrics may require brushing to restore appearance. It is best to use a solvent based cleaner if you have it on hand.
